A Little About Us
We began our Icelandic sheep adventure in 2009 with the purchase of a starter flock of 6 ewes and 2 rams. After two years of research we really wanted a breed that was versatile and hardy. Icelandic's fit our goals perfectly.
Modern Icelandic Sheep are descendants of the first sheep brought to Iceland by Viking explorers and settlers. Those that survived the voyage and thrived on the land had to be hardy and passed that trait down through the generations. The most important traits of Icelandics for us is their ability to grow well on pasture, they are prolific and have an easy time lambing . Icelandics are capable of giving birth to triplets, or even quads and raising them unassisted.
